How can massage help you?
Back problems affect 80% of people at some time in their life. Hard physical work as well as static working postures can lead to back pain and injuries.
Diagnosis in the early stages can prevent costly time off work, and help you enjoy injury free recreation time.
Massage can release tension in muscles that builds up over a period of time, and treats area that cannot be reached by the individual as some muscle groups overlap and are, therefore, deep within the skeletal structure. Muscles tell the Bones where to go in most cases your symptom’s will be a result of Muscle Imbalance and these need to be addressed first before consulting any other Practitioner to relieve the Tension and Knots in the Muscles.
Think about what would happen if you put a piece of steak into boiling hot fat … the steak shrinks and fibers get crossed over. Exactly the same where you body suffers “Trauma or Collision” … the fibers get Cross! and the muscle needs to be pulled back out by Deep Tissue massage in order to correct the in-balance or as I prefer to call it Out Balance and take out knots and adhesion’s … scar tissue should be broken down as soon as healing has taken place to prevent it from becoming permanent, causes on-going problems within joints/muscles.
Your therapist can not only treat the symptoms causing your discomfort but also advise on methods of improving core stability, muscle balance and improve poor posture to help minimize future problems, and to prevent you from being in a “revolving door treatment” forever coming back but not getting anywhere. Debbie does not practice this way and can give you with her expertise her Personal Training Knowledge to do exercises to help you be more responsible for your own health by doing simple exercises at home.

What effect does massage have on the body?
The relationship between the exterior and interior of the body is closely interlinked via the nervous system and it has been found that by stimulating specific areas on the surface of the body can have a corresponding effect on the internal organs and systems of the body.
The dermis layer of the skin contains nerve endings which respond to touch and, on stimulation, the receptor nerves relay impulses via the spinal cord back to the brain. The brain then relays messages back to the area involved. The effects may include the relaxation of voluntary muscles, the sedation of nerve sensors and improved blood circulation to the area.
The receptor nerve endings affected by touch travel more quickly than those involved in chronic pain and can reduce the brain’s affected area. Chemicals known as endorphin’s are also released from the brain and act as the body’s natural painkillers. These help to counter the sensation of chronic pain and give a feeling of well-being and relaxation.
Everyone’s needs are different so as a qualified therapist I can tailor your treatment specifically for you. On the left you’ll find information on the different types of massage that may be included in your therapy.
